Privacy Policy

This policy explains what data toolswitchhub collects when you visit this site, why, and what control you have over it. We've tried to write it in plain language rather than boilerplate.

Who we are

toolswitchhub operates the website at toolswitchhub.com and is the data controller for personal data collected through it. You can reach us at support@toolswitchhub.com for any privacy question or request.

The short version

  • We don't have user accounts, and we don't ask you to register or submit personal details.
  • Everything you type into the calculator is processed in your own browser. It is never sent to us or stored on any server.
  • We use Google Analytics to understand which articles people read. This runs only if you consent.
  • We may display third-party advertising, which uses cookies. This also runs only if you consent.
  • You can change or withdraw your consent at any time.

What we collect

Information you give us

Only what you choose to send. If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you write, and we keep that correspondence so we can respond and — in the case of a correction request — document why an article was changed.

Calculator inputs

The switching cost calculator runs entirely as JavaScript in your browser. Team size, pricing, migration hours and any tool names you enter are used to compute a result on your device and are discarded when you close or reload the page. They are not transmitted to us, not logged, and not stored.

Information collected automatically

Like most websites, our hosting provider records technical data when a page is served — IP address, browser type and version, operating system, referring page, and the time of the request. This is used to deliver the site, diagnose faults, and protect against abuse. Our analytics and advertising providers collect additional data as described below, but only where you have consented.

Cookies and consent

We use Cookiebot, a Google-certified consent management platform, to obtain and record your cookie choices. Cookiebot operates in automatic blocking mode: cookies in the analytics and advertising categories are prevented from being set until you consent to that category.

The categories are:

  • Necessary — required for the site to function and to remember your consent choice. These are always active.
  • Statistics — Google Analytics. Helps us see which articles are read and where readers come from.
  • Marketing — advertising cookies, including those used for ad personalisation and frequency capping.

You can change or withdraw consent at any time using the cookie settings link provided by the consent banner, or by clearing cookies for this site in your browser. Withdrawing consent does not affect processing that already took place while consent was valid.

For visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, our consent tool is integrated with the IAB Transparency and Consent Framework, which is how consent signals are passed to advertising vendors.

Analytics

Subject to your consent, we use Google Analytics 4 (measurement ID G-LR89S3K7S4) to measure traffic. It sets cookies that assign a random identifier to your browser and records page views, approximate location derived from IP address, device and browser characteristics, and how you arrived at the site. Google processes this data on our behalf. We do not use it to identify individuals, and we do not combine it with any other dataset.

Google Analytics data is retained according to the retention period configured in our property, after which event-level data is deleted. Aggregate reporting may persist beyond that point.

You can opt out of Google Analytics independently of our consent banner by installing Google's browser opt-out add-on.

Advertising

This site may display advertising served by Google AdSense and its partners. Where advertising is served:

  • Google and its partners may use cookies or similar technologies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites.
  • If you have not consented to advertising cookies, or where consent is required and not given, ads shown will be non-personalised. Non-personalised ads still use limited data such as approximate location and general page content, and may use cookies for frequency capping, aggregated reporting and fraud prevention.
  • You can control ad personalisation across Google services at Google My Ad Center, and review vendor-level choices through our cookie settings.

Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to this website. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this and other sites. More information is available in Google's advertising policies.

Affiliate links

Some articles may contain affiliate links, which can set a cookie identifying that you arrived from this site so that a commission can be attributed. Articles covering AI companion products carry no affiliate links of any kind, as set out in our editorial policy. Where affiliate links appear, they are disclosed on the page.

Legal bases for processing

If you are in the EEA or UK, we rely on the following legal bases under the GDPR:

  • Consent (Article 6(1)(a)) for analytics cookies, advertising cookies, and any non-essential storage on your device.
  • Legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f)) for delivering the site securely, maintaining server logs, and preventing abuse. Our interest is in operating a functioning, secure website; we consider this proportionate because the data involved is limited and not used to profile you.
  • Legitimate interests for handling correspondence you initiate, so that we can reply to you.

International transfers

Our service providers, including Google and our hosting provider, may process data in the United States and other countries outside the EEA and UK. Where that occurs, transfers rely on the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses, the UK International Data Transfer Addendum, or an applicable adequacy decision, depending on the provider and destination.

Retention

Server logs are retained for a short period for security and diagnostic purposes and then deleted or overwritten by our hosting provider. Analytics data is retained for the period configured in our Google Analytics property. Email correspondence is kept for as long as needed to handle your request and to maintain a record of any published correction. Calculator inputs are never retained because they never leave your browser.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Have inaccurate data corrected
  • Have data erased
  • Restrict or object to processing, including profiling for advertising
  • Receive your data in a portable format
  • Withdraw consent at any time, without affecting processing already carried out
  • Lodge a complaint with your national data protection authority

To exercise any of these, email support@toolswitchhub.com. Because we don't operate accounts and don't hold directly identifying information about site visitors, we may be unable to locate data relating to you from a browsing session alone. In that case we'll say so rather than ask you for additional identifying information we don't need.

California residents

Under the CCPA as amended by the CPRA, California residents have the right to know what personal information is collected and how it is used, to request deletion, to correct inaccurate information, and to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. We do not sell personal information for money. However, the use of advertising cookies for cross-context behavioural advertising may be considered "sharing" under California law. You can opt out by declining the marketing category in our cookie settings, or by enabling a Global Privacy Control signal in your browser, which we honour. We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights.

Children

This site is intended for a professional and general adult audience. It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us and we will delete it.

Third parties we use

  • Google Analytics — traffic measurement. Privacy policy
  • Google AdSense — advertising, where displayed. How Google uses data
  • Cookiebot (Usercentrics) — consent management. Privacy policy
  • Our hosting provider — site delivery, server logs, and content distribution.

Security

The site is served over HTTPS. We hold no user accounts, no passwords, and no payment data, which removes most of the categories of risk a site like this would otherwise carry. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, and we can't guarantee absolute security.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the site changes — for example, if we add a new analytics or advertising provider. When we do, we'll revise the "last updated" date at the top. Material changes affecting how we use your data will be reflected in the consent banner, which will ask for your choice again where the law requires it.
